Gerard Anderiesen is director of the Amsterdam housing corporation since the start of Stadgenoot (2008). Previously, he was director of the Algemene Woningbouw Vereniging(AWV), which merged with Het Oosten into the new corporation Stadgenoot. Until 2011, he governed Stadgenoot together with Frank Bijdendijk, former director of Het Oosten. After Bijdendijk’s retirement, Anderiesen decided to change direction and separate from the Turkish mosque builders. The split was settled in court in favour of the Turks, to whom the housing corporations had to pay 1.7 million euros. Anderiesen is originally a sociologist, who in the nineties, worked on disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
